It was down. Not sure why. I just rebooted it, so it should be up again.
If syncing through the blockchain protocol is challenging – and I expect it will be, given that there is only one node and it is capable of timing out or, apparently, dying silently – try downloading the torrent file containing all blocks and syncing from stored blocks. That’s step 2 in the section “Synchronizing” in the linked article.
